The Magical thing about herbs…

 Herbs aren’t just for spicing your dinners, you can use them in spell work and all kinds of magical things.

I love to burn herbs when I want to cleanse my space, invite health and wealth and in general it’s a practice I just grew to love. I use many herbs, sage being one of  my favourite, thyme,mugwort,mint,Lavender,rose petals,hyssop you name I burn it. 

I have a few uses for your cupboard staples so read on if you want to learn more.

First Preparation is key.

I like to light some candles clear my space choose my crystals and play my music to really clear my head space, when I burn herbs it is to banish or invite, I will repeat in my mind what my intentions are for my herb burning and ask for protection too. 

Which herbs should I choose?

Here’s some nice herbs you can start with, these are great if you’re a beginner too! 

Sage is a nice herb to use smells earthy and can be used to help clear out negative energy, you can cleanse using sage and use it as a way to help connect to the spirit world, Sage is something you may have seen or heard about before, it’s usually something that most people will use especially when learning about herbal work, the Native American people would use Sage as a way of opening up the spirit realm and connecting to it, so always set your intentions when using sage be sure to not open yourself up to anything you don’t want. 

Mint.

Mint is a herb that can be used if you want to attract money, you can burn it (smells Devine) you can make or use mint oil, add mint to any spell work you would like to draw positive energy in to. Mint is also used to help relive stress and lower cortisol levels, drink mint tea for example or take a bath with some mint leaves and oil, will also help to decongest if you have a bit of a cold, it’s a good herb to use in many of waysso I always keep it in, I even grow it too. 

Hyssop.

This herb is good to burn for cleansing, many people believe it is a good soul cleanser, I like to use it when I need to clear my space of energy and if I need to clear my head I will whip some of this out, this has a nice scent when burning too so I relish in the scent knowing it’s cleansing my space too. 

Cinnamon.

If you want to attract good luck and wealth use this in your spell work, some take a stick of cinnamon and pop it in their purse to help bring in good fortune, if you want to open yourself up spiritually burn this with some sandalwood to help open your third eye, you are able to use cinnamon in an abundance of ways, cinnamon powder to help cleanse, burn it, make oil use it in its natural form either way it’s a good one to have around especially if you are wanting to change a situation and attract good luck.

Rose petals.

You can imagine I’m sure Rose petals are used in many love spells, you see it a lot in books, I love to use Rose petals to bring in balance and harmony not just in relationships but in general day to day life, apart from the fact they are pretty you can bring in balance to yourself, they are a positive spell herb to help boost your spell work and to bring in positivity energy to what you are working on,  I actually love burning rose petals and Lavender together not only is the smell amazing but they are some pretty powerful herbs to use when casting. 

Lavender.

Lavender can be used for luck, it can be used to bring in peace and harmony to oneself, if you suffer with anxiety burning Lavander can actually help to aid our nervous system, it can help calm and settle our nerves so I always keep Lavander around to keep me calm and grounded, you can also do something else that I love to do beside burning it, infuse your sugar with it for a sweet treat, It’s delicious in cakes or add a spoonful to some lemonade make biscuits with it I will take it any which way it comes it’s an absolute favourite of mine. 

Those are just a few of my favourites to burn and include in my spell work, I love to mix my herbs so don’t think you have to burn just one herb at a time absolutely not, i love to use cinnamon, Mint and basil together to help boost money for example, Rose petals Lavender thyme together will create complete harmonious energies that smell great and give a clear space, always set your intentions and enjoy your herb work.

Remember it’s not about chanting rhymes or repeating spells, it’s about opening your self up to magic and setting your intentions as you burn this is where the magic is.
